Eva Vergos
Mother. Prosecutor. Volunteer.

From the earliest days of her career, Eva Vergos has been an advocate for victims and justice. Born a United States citizen abroad in Greece, Eva moved to New Port Richey in 1986 and was raised here in the Tampa Bay area. A graduate of Gulf High School in New Port Richey, Eva went on to study at St. Leo University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree. During her undergraduate study, Eva worked with victims of domestic violence as an intern at Sunrise Domestic Violence Center. Eva’s passion for criminal justice continued during her time at Syracuse University College of Law, where Eva interned with both the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York, and with State Attorney Bernie McCabe’s office in the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida for both Pasco and Pinellas counties. The experience Eva gained while helping victims and serving the community launched Eva’s eighteen-year career seeking justice for the citizens of the Sixth Judicial Circuit.

As a career prosecutor, Eva believes that no one is above the law or beneath its protection. She has prosecuted thousands of cases and has presented over one hundred cases to juries here in the Sixth Judicial Circuit. As a result of her skill in the court room, Eva was promoted to Lead Trial Attorney over a circuit court division in the State Attorney’s Office. This position of leadership has allowed Eva

to mentor young prosecutors and encourage them to follow in her footsteps and be the voice for victims of the most heinous crimes. As Lead Trial Attorney, she carries the enormous responsibility of reviewing cases for the filing of formal criminal charges. This requires not only legal knowledge, but also strong judgment and discretion. As a prosecutor, Eva has continuously sought justice for victims of child abuse and molestation, domestic violence crimes, rape, and homicide. A leader, an advocate, a servant of the people: Eva has been seeking justice for the citizens of the Sixth Judicial Circuit her entire legal career and is eager to continue her public service as a Circuit Judge.

Eva’s service is not limited to the courtroom. Eva is a member of the West Pasco Bar Association and the Clearwater Bar Association as well as the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, and the Sexual Assault Response Team. She is a coach for an Odyssey of the Mind team at Dayspring Academy, and has served as a Little League Baseball Coach. When not in the courtroom, Eva enjoys spending time with her family, including her son, Gabriel and their dog, a boxer named Charli. Eva is also an involved member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church.

Eva's commitment to our community is evident in both her advocacy in the courtroom and in her personal life, and that commitment will only continue as a Circuit Judge for the Sixth Judicial Circuit.
